Opening Shotgun Season
Posted by Kevin Krefting in Life on December 2, 2009
With the warm December weather here in Iowa, it’s going to be an interesting deer hunting season. For those of you who are avid hunters out there you know what I mean. Usually shotgun season is a little cooler with possible snow on the ground. With this warm air I highly doubt we’ll have any snow sticking to the ground to make our sport easier.
I’ll be spending the upcoming weekend in New Virginia, IA during the evening with the entire hunting party and in Mount Ayr, IA during the day actually hunting. Southern Iowa has some of the healthiest deer population in my opinion, and it always makes for a great hunt. This year I’m not looking for a wall-mounter, but rather to fill the freezer with venison. Should a thirty-point buck walk by I might be able to change my mind
Anyway, if anyone is looking for me this weekend, I’ll be the guy in blaze orange in a 15-foot treestand enjoying the outdoors. Be safe everyone!
